We like to raise mixed breeds of pigs for what they call the hybrid vigor; animals that have the best traits of each breed. We currently are raising Mangalista pigs, an extremely winter-hardy heritage breed from Hungary.
We take our six to seventh-month-old pigs to Herring Brothers to be harvested, cut, packaged, and frozen. Herring Brothers is a certified organic butcher shop in Guilford, Maine, which we have worked with since 2000. We have a variety of cuts from pork chops to ground pork to bacon and sausage freshly frozen available year round.
